JONES, VIRGINIA Virginia Jones of Chappaqua died July 16, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 65. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 24, 1940 and moved shortly thereafter to Pleasantville with her parents, Margaretta and Bertram Smith and her sister, Margaret. She graduated magna cum laude from Mt. Holyoke College in 1961, where she was editor of the yearbook and swam in the water ballet. She took a job in New York City with Young & Rubicam Advertising where she met her future husband, Richard Jones, who survives her. They were married on December 1, 1962. She is also survived by her mother Margaretta Smith, sister Margaret, and her beloved children, Marjorie Hall of Katonah and Rich Jones of San Jose, CA, two granddaughters Alexandra and Whitney, and son-in-law, Thomas Hall. She worked for 14 years as the secretary to the head of Lower School at King, Low Heywood Thomas School in Stamford and was a volunteer at Northern Westchester Hospital. Virginia was an avid athlete who enjoyed hiking, biking, swimming, tennis, golf, snowshoeing and both downhill and crosscountry skiing in addition to yoga and spin classes at Mt. Kisco Athletic Club. She loved the great out-ofdoors, the stars in the sky, and had a wonderful eye for things beautiful. Most of all she was devoted to her family and friends and had a natural rapport with all with whom she came in contact. A Memorial Service for Virginia will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 24 at the Quaker Meeting House on Route 120 in Chappaqua, NY.
