Virginia Taylor Of Cherrywood Manor Elmira, NY Passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2003 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center just one day shy of her 77th birthday. She was born July 28, 1926 in Nichols, GA, the daughter of the late Donald and Mary Ellen (Smith) Taylor. Her sister, Mildred Welles; and brother, Donald Taylor, preceded her in death. Her survivors include, loving husband of 59 years, Robert A. Hyde; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Beth Ann (Corbin) Hyde of Breesport, NY, William C. and Jamy Brice-Hyde of Horseheads, NY; daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Jim Battisti of Beaver Dams, NY, Susan Hyde and Michael Spain of Campville, NY; sisters, Rita Jean Williams of Nichols, GA; JoAnne (Otis) Williams of Alma, GA; sister-in-law, Dorothy Barton of Dansville, NY; best friends, Betty and Edward Sears, grandchildren, Corey Hyde and Leigh Ann Hyde of Denver, CO, Jennifer Minchenko of Columbus, OH, Mercy (Pestana) and Terry McHugh of Chandler, AZ, Tony and Jesse Battisti of Horseheads, NY, Krissie Girardi of Raleigh, NC, Katy Hyde and Becky Hyde of Elmira, NY, Annabelle Hyde of Horseheads, NY, Molly Hyde of Breesport, NY, along with three great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Virginia was a member and Deacon of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. For many years, she was employed at the former X-cel Dairy. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday, July 29, 2003 from 5 to 7 PM. A Memorial service celebrating Virginia's life will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2003 in the Westminster Presbyterian Church 1009 Maple Ave. Elmira, NY. Her good friend and pastor, the Rev. Cathy Stevenson, will officiate. Interment will take place in the Woodlawn National Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to Southern Tier Hospice 11751 East Corning Road Corning, NY 14830. A "Candle of Remembrance" may be left for the family at www.olthof.com.
