Virginia Helen Gunther, 97, died Sunday, January 19, 2003, at her niece's home in Cleveland, TN. A native of Louisville, she was the former Virginia Helen Thomas, a retired school teacher and also retired as a WMU director from the former Women's Missionary Union and a member of Bethany Baptist Church. Mrs. Gunther was a chalk illustrator of Biblical stories. Her husband, Charles P. Gunther, preceded her in death. She is survived by her niece, Diane Queen, and a nephew, Roger Thomas Miller. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 23, 2003, at Highlands Family Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd., with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2003, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to her church.
