June 20, 2006 Virginia H. Jones, 89, of the Presbyterian Home and formerly of The Meadows, died Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at the Home. She was born December 8, 1916 in Kirkville, a daughter of John and Florence Nemitz Hancock. She graduated from Chittenango High School, Cortland Normal School and received a bachelor's and master's degrees from Oswego State University. She taught in one room schools in Bolivar near Chittenango and in Hubbardsville. She then taught 1st Grade at Sauquoit Valley Elementary School and retired as Principal of the school. She also authored a children's book and entitled, "Sweet William". Mrs. Jones was a member of Moriah Olivet United Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the NYS Retired Teachers Association and the St. David's Society of Utica. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ray Jones in 1996 and her sister, Susanna Swift. The funeral service will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 12 to 1 p.m. prior to the service.
