Virginia Geraldine Geist Henderson, 85, Morristown, Tenn., and formerly of Punta Gorda, died April 7, 2005. She was born Feb. 12, 1920, in Pittsburgh, and came to Charlotte County in 1959. She worked as a secretary, bookkeeper and florist and helped her late husband, the Rev. Reese Henderson, at First United Presbyterian Church in Punta Gorda. She was a member of that church and was known for baking delicious blueberry muffins. Survivors include sisters Marion Hively of Tampa, Elsie Johnson of Kissimmee, Doris Anderson of Tucson, Ariz., and Ruth Marvin of Pollock, Idaho; sons Reese John Henderson Sr. of Talbott, Tenn., Clifford Edward Henderson of Williamsburg, Va., and Sherman "Scotty" Marshall Henderson of Virginia Beach, Va.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. today at Mayes Funeral Home in Morristown, with a funeral service to follow. Burial will be at Memphis Memorial Gardens in Memphis, Tenn. Mayes Funeral Home, Morristown, is in charge. Memorial donations may be made to the Gideon International Society.
