Obituary of Virginia-D. Moore


NORTH WALPOLE, N.H. - Virginia D. Moore, 76, died Sept. 22, 2010, at Cheshire Medical Center. She was born in Putney, Vt., Aug. 5, 1934, the daughter of Harold and Katherine (Keenan) Dowlin. She graduated in 1952 from Bellows Falls (Vt.) High School and in 1956 from Castleton (Vt.) Teachers College. On June 23, 1956, she married John J. Moore Jr., who predeceased her. Mrs. Moore was an educator at Fall Mountain School District from 1967 to 1997 working in Walpole and North Walpole and was honored in Who's Who of American Teachers. She served as a Walpole Library trustee and was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post #37 in Bellows Falls. Survivors include two sons, John Moore III of Hillsboro and Matthew Moore of North Springfield; a sister, Katherine Bradley of Maryland; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Moore was also predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn Fratto and Janet Forehand, and a brother, Harold Dowlin Jr. Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, at the Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at St. Peter's Church in North Walpole, officiated by the Rev. Michael Gendron, with burial to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bridge Memorial Library, 48 Main St., Walpole, NH 03608.
