SLINGERLANDS Virginia C. Moore entered into eternal life on February 3, 2003 at her home in Slingerlands. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. James A. Moore, M.D., a long time Albany family physician. Mrs. Moore was the daughter of the late Viola Belle and Roscoe James Conklin and the sister of the late Griswold Harris Conklin, all of Riverhead, N.Y. She is survived by three sons, James Moore of Rochester, N.Y., Eric Moore of New Albany, Ind. and Kenneth Moore of Ballston Spa, N.Y. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Born and raised in Riverhead, Mrs. Moore graduated in 1935 from the Methodist Episcopal Hospital School of Nursing in Brooklyn, N.Y. where she became a registered nurse. It was at the hospital that she met her future husband. In addition to raising her three sons and assisting in her husbands medical practice, Mrs. Moore was an active volunteer in Albany for over 60 years. She was a life member and past president of the Mothers Association of the Albany Academy from which her three sons graduated. She was a founding member of the Albany County Medical Society Auxiliary and was an active volunteer for the Red Cross Bloodmobile service during World War II. In 1967 and 1968 she served as the president of the New York State Medical Society Auxiliary. In 1969 and 1970, Governor Rockefeller appointed her to the State Health Manpower Commission. Until recently, she was a volunteer at the Albany Institute of History and Art. For 60 years, she was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church serving as a Sunday school teacher, elder, steward, and deacon. In 2000, she was presented with the Senior Lifetime Achievement Award by the Capital District Senior Issues Forum. Calling hours will be at Tebbutt Funeral Home, 420 Kenwood Ave., Delmar, N.Y. on Wednesday, February 5, 2003 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Burial will be at Albany Rural Cemetery. A memorial service will be conducted at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Albany on Thursday, February 6, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either Westminster Presbyterian Church, Albany, NY or to a charity of the donors choice in her name.
