<!-- FH = Mackey Mortuary -->Virginia "Nell" B. MillerGreenvilleVirginia "Nell" (Bowman) Miller, 91, died peacefully in her sleep early April 27, 2011 at NHC HealthCare in Mauldin, SC. Born in Broadway, VA, Nell was the daughter of the late Shearer and the late Nellie (Grabill) Bowman. From her childhood home, she and her family moved to Royersford, PA where she spent most of her young adult life. She and her husband, the late John C. Miller, moved to Lansdale, PA where they worked and raised their family. Nell dedicated herself to her household and to her job as a bookkeeper for many years with Gulf Oil. Her interests included working crossword puzzles, reading, cross-stitch and knitting. She was a long-time member of the Lansdale United Methodist Church, participating in women's circles, serving on various committees, and helping with the annual bazaar.Retired, widowed, Nell moved to Walnut Meadows, Harleysville, PA and joined Christ UMC near her home. She enjoyed working at a nearby CVS part time and doing aerobics to Richard Simmons' DVDs until health issues brought her to SC in January 2004, and nearer family. Legally blind due to macular degeneration and suffering from stenosis and fractures of the lower spine, Nell has received care and compassion these past 7 years at NHC - Mauldin, SC.She is survived by her son, Peter F. Miller of New Port Richey, FL; her daughter, Barbara J. (Miller) Koch and grandson, John C. Koch of Charlotte, NC; her daughter, Robin C. (Miller) Aleksinas, son-in-law, Michael J. Aleksinas of Greenville, SC and twin grandsons, Marc A. Aleksinas and Matthew J. Aleksinas, of New York City, NY; her daughter, Denise E. (Miller) Oubre, son-in-law, Christopher N. Oubre, granddaughter, Meredith M. Oubre and grandson, Brandon C. Oubre of Richmond, VA; 2 sisters, Carolyn Hixson of Royersford, PA and Dorleen Clair of Pottstown, PA; and 2 brothers, Donald J. Bowman of Royersford, PA and Lee Bowman of Pottstown, PA.She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Miller and her son, John C. Miller, Jr.; 2 sisters, Rena Hill and Dorothy Cullum, and 7 brothers, Shearer Bowman, Norwood Bowman, Frank Bowman, Norris Bowman, Larry Bowman, Jack Bowman and Kenneth Bowman.Visitation will be held at The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive, Greenville on Friday, April 29 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM.Arrangements have been made to transport her to Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville, PA for a memorial service at Wayside Chapel before interment.In lieu of flowers, gifts in Nell's name can be given to Wills Eye, The Fund for Vision, 840 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107, Attn: Development Office or to NHC - Mauldin, P.O. Box 600, Mauldin, SC 29662 or to any charity of your choice.
