Virginia Anderson of Apalachin, N.Y. Virginia (Wolff) Anderson, 87, a resident of Castle Gardens Keepsake Village, Vestal, N.Y., passed away August 25, 2007 at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, N.Y. Born February 19, 1920, she was the daughter of George and Clara (Aringdale) Wolff. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Camdton Anderson in 1951; and by a brother and sister-in-law, Lowell and Annette (Jakulewicz) Wolff in 2006. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Robert Furman; grandsons, Scott (Cheryl) Furman, Midlothian, Va., Gregory Furman, Haddam, Conn., Todd (Rebecca) Furman, Spencerport, N.Y.; three great-grandchildren, Sarah and Camdton Furman, Midlothian, Va., and Austin Furman, Spencerport, N.Y.; brother, Kenneth (Jeana) Wolff, Owego; sisters-in-law, Jenny Slate, Endicott, N.Y., and Sadie Adams, Myerstown, Pa.; many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was a retired IBM Owego employee of 28 1/2 years, a member of IBM Quarter Century Club, life member New York State Congress PTA, life member of VFW 1371 Aux., Owego, N.Y., former member and past president of American Legion Post 89, Johnson City, N.Y. for a total of 54 continuous years, and also a member of Broome County 8/40 Salon #37. A lifetime volunteer worker in many organizations, she was a Brownie Leader, a Girl Scout Jr. Leader, a field worker for the veteran's hospitals, the Red Cross and Muscular Dystrophy. She was a member of Apalachin Waterman's Conservation Center, and Apalachin Senior Citizen's and The Historical Society of Owego. Funeral services will be held at Richards Funeral Home, Rt. 17c West, Owego, N.Y. 13827 on Tuesday, August 28, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Parrish Bridges officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Tioga Cemetery, Owego. Friends are invited to call at Richards Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 28, 2007, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Southern Tier, 401 Hayes Ave., Endicott, N.Y. 13760, or to Oxford, N.Y. Veteran's Home for the care of Veterans.
