MATTHEWS, Ga. - Virginia Goodin Anderson, loving wife of the late G. C. Pete Anderson, peacefully entered into rest Friday, November 4, 2011 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at James Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 2:00PM with Dr. James M. Ford and Rev. J. Scott McKinney officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Baptist Church Cemetery. Virginia was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County. She was the first woman school bus driver in Jefferson County (in the early 1940s) and retired after 20 years of service with the Jefferson County School System. She was an active member of Wrens Baptist Church, Keenagers, Wrens Baptist WMU, and the Lucy Howard-Agnes Martin Sunday School class. Virginia enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and travelling. She could often be found sitting on her back porch enjoying the peaceful tranquility of her orchids. She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed. Virginia was also preceded in death by her parents, Anna Belle Owens Goodin and Samuel Moses Goodin; her sister, Louise G. McDonald; her brother, Sam Goodin; and her son-in-law, Henry B. Jones. Her survivors include her daughter, Elaine A. Jones; a grandson, Andy B. Jones (Rosanne); two great grandchildren, Olivia R. Monjeau and Anderson W. Jones; numerous nieces and nephews; her church family and friends. Pallbearers will be Jeb Barrow, Jeff Gay, Jim Gay, Kenneth Johnson, Alan Rabun and Ray Smith. The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:30-8:00PM this evening, Saturday, November 5, 2011. The family wishes to express a special thanks to her caregivers-Alice Davis, Barbara Fleming, Vera McBride, Elizabeth Norris, Rachel Roberts and Mary Walker-for their unfailing support and love.
