Obituary of Virginia-A. Smith


Virginia A. Smith, 89, died Saturday, September 9, 2006 at Quail Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Saturday, September 16, 2006, St. Anthony's Catholic Church, in Nanuet, NY. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Born February 19, 1917 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Agnes Bracken Griffin, wife of the late Donald J. Smith and was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Marie Smith. She spent most of her life in Spring Valley, NY, where she worked for Consolidated Stamp Company until she retired. In 1985, she and her husband Donald moved to Richardson, TX. In 1995, several years after his death, Virginia and her daughter, Donna, moved to Pinehurst. Mrs. Smith is survived by her son, John B. Smith and his wife, Catherine, and three grandchildren, Michael Smith of Atlanta, GA, Christine Wilson of Rockwell, TX and Carol Lillian of Atlanta, GA as well as six great-grandchildren. The family will be receiving friends Friday from 6 to 8 pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Memorials may be made to the Coalition for Human Care Building Fund, 1117 W.
