BARRETT, Violet Dorothy "Vi " (nee Erickson) With great sadness, the family announces Vi's sudden passing at the age of 85 on Sat., Oct. 24 at The Lodge at Broadmead. Vi was born in Bateman, Sask. on Sept. 18, 1924. During WWII, she served in Halifax with the WRENS. Vi later moved to Victoria where she met & married the love of her life, Melville (Mel) John Barrett, on Sept. 28, 1946. Vi was pre-deceased by Mel in 2006; as well as father Herman; mother Edith; sisters Ella, Daisy, Bertha, Rose, Ollie & Nellie; & brother Donald. She will be sorely missed & lovingly remembered by her children Glen, Gwen (Bruce) & Guy (Stephanie); beloved grandchildren Christopher, Nicholas, Jennifer, Michael & Jen; brother Glen; sister Edna; & her extended family & friends. A memorial service will be held on Mon., Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. at First Memorial Funeral Services, 4725 Falaise Dr. The family would like to thank the staff at The Lodge at Broadmead for the wonderful care & support provided to Vi during the last years of her life & encourage donations in her memory to The Lodge at Broadmead Foundation. 566753 Published in the Victoria Times-Colonist on 10/31/2009
