Funeral service for Viola Elizabeth Phillips, 91, Colt Place, Daytona Beach, who died Feb. 19, 2008, at Halifax Hospital Port Orange, will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at New Life Church Ministries with the Rev. Victor Gooden officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. today (Friday) at R.J. Gainous Funeral Home, Inc. Ms. Phillips was born in Savannah, Ga., and moved to this area in 1944. She was a member of New Life Ministries where she sang in the church choir. She was also a member of Chris Gadson Post #204, American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a past superintendent. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Phillips Scarbrough; granddaughter, Chantel Scarbrough; grandson, Christopher Scarbrough, II; and spiritual daughter, Mamie Singleton, all of Daytona Beach.
