Viola Brown Carter, age 98, of Ozark, affectionately known as "Big Mom" passed away April 6, 2006. She was born April 16, 1907, in Highlandville, Missouri, to Obert and Maude (Russell) Brown. On March 5, 1923, Viola and Efton Carter were married. They had two children, Guy and Ruby. Mrs. Carter loved her farm, garden, raising chickens and watching things grow. Mrs. Carter worked for the Highlandville schools for 13 years as a cook. She was saved and baptized in her teens and was a longtime member of the Highlandville Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents a brother, Ralph Brown a sister, Murel Amos her son, Guy Carter and son-in-law, Robert Baird. She is survived by: Her daughter, Ruby Baird, Ozark daughter-in-law, Georgia White, Springfield three grandchildren, Greg Carter and wife, Curvine, Highlandville, Sue Blevins and husband, Joel, Garrison, Robyn Schroeder and husband, Harold, Ozark nine great-grand- children, Dawn Abrahamson, Heather Carter, T.J. Carter, Summer Carter, Virgil Webber, Kim Kearney, Tyson Blevins, Carrie Chaffin and John Schroeder six great- great-grandchildren, Taylor, Ashtan, Lauren, and Brenden Abrahamson, Tristen Andree, and David Kearney nieces, nephews, and many friends. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 9, at 2:30 p.m. in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Friends may call at their convenience from noon until 6 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Ozark Riverview Manor for their care and concern.
