<!-- FH = Greenfield Funeral Chapel, Greenfield, MO --><!-- DisplayFullObituaryText -->Vesta Mae (Hurt) JenningsVesta Mae (Hurt) Jennings, 84, of Greenfield, Mo., departed this life Thursday, December 25, 2014, at her home after a lengthy illness. Vesta and her twin sister, Veda, were the oldest of six children born in the Greenfield area to Loren and Edith (Daughtrey) Hurt. On December 1, 1951, she married Everett Dale Jennings in Greenfield. He survives at the home.Vesta was a 1947 graduate of Greenfield High School, and attended Draughons Business College in Springfield, Mo. As a young adult she worked in banking, and in various other office settings. Vesta distinguished herself as an exemplary homemaker, known especially to her family for her homemade baked breads and rolls. She could turn any fabric into a fashion design, beautiful drapery, or award-winning quilt. Vesta volunteered many hours helping the local nursing home residents create crafts. She was a long time member of Main Street Baptist Church of Greenfield, assuming various kitchen responsibilities for church functions over the years, and especially being a part of the TEAM KID ministry.In addition to her husband, Vesta is survived by a daughter and her husband, Cheryl and Ron Franklin of Carthage, Mo.; and three sons and their wives, Gary and Cathi Jennings of Mobile, Ala., Terry and Stacey Jennings and Michael and Kathryn Jennings of Edmond, Okla. Also surviving are three sisters, Veda Thieman of Lockwood, Mo., Marilyn and husband Wayne Marshall of South Greenfield, Mo., and Wanda and husband John Webb of Miller, Mo.; two brothers, Lyndell and wife Judy Hurt of Lamar, Mo., and Larry Hurt of Lockwood; twelve grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.Special expression of thanks to Central Care Cancer Center personnel of Bolivar, Mo. and Transitions Hospice personnel of Bolivar for their excellent care.Services will be held on Monday, December 29, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Main Street Baptist Church in Greenfield. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 28, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Main Street Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Main Street Baptist Church. Online condolences may be shared at www.greenfieldfuneralchapel.com. Services are under the care of Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
