ROLSTON, VESTA - At Laurier Manor, Ottawa, ON, Mrs. Vesta Rolston, formerly of Saint John, NB, died on March 13th in her 103rd year. She was born on September 9, 1904, the seventh of nine children, of the late Edward and Catherine (Ryan) Gillis of Main Street, Fairville (Saint John West). On September 12, 1928 at Holy Trinity Church, Rockland Road, Saint John, she married John R. Rolston of Saint John North. Following their marriage, they resided in Saint John, Amherst, Halifax and Moncton, moving to Ottawa in 1944. Her husband Johnny predeceased her in Ottawa in August of 1967. Their many family visits to Saint John over the years are still fondly remembered by her surviving nieces and nephews. Her sense of humour remained with her throughout her life, until her final illness, and brought joy to those around her. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by an infant daughter Gertrude (1934) in Amherst, NS; three sons-in-law, Guy Cloutier (1953), Chris Murphy (1987) and Gerry Anderson (1990); five brothers, Cornelius G. (1924), Edward A. (1941) Eugene F. (1950), all of Saint John, Cyril F. of Wilmette, IL, (1970) and Daniel J. of Petersborough, ON (1996); three sisters, Genevieve T. Clarkson (1963), Helen C. Lawlor (1939) both of Saint John and Alice M. Lewis (1970) of Toronto, ON. She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Anderson of Westmeath, ON, Adrienne Murphy of Ottawa and Judy (Ken) MacGregor of Calgary, AB; nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Visitation took place on Wednesday, March 21st at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at the church of the Resurrection of Our Lord. Interment took place in Notre Dame Cemetery, Ottawa. A Mass in her memory will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Church, Rockland Road, on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 12:05 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2007
