Obituary of Verna-Mae Gilman


GOFFSTOWN -- Verna Mae Gilman, 82, died Nov. 21, 2010, following a period of declining health. She was born in Riverdale to H. Isaac and Evelyn A. (Holmes) Blanchette. She resided most of her life in Goffstown. She was talented in making crafts and enjoyed puzzles and her doll collection. Her greatest love came from spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a person who was "full of life and always the life of the party." She was predeceased by her husband, John Edward Gilman. Family members include two brothers, Robert Blanchette of Kissimmee, Fla., and Roy Blanchette of Weare; four children, Richard J. Gilman Sr. of Goffstown, Cheryl A. Byam of New Boston, Gary L. Gilman of New Boston and Sandra Dicey of Manchester; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. SERVICES: Calling hours will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at French and Rising Funeral Home, 17 South Mast St., Goffstown. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery, Goffstown. Donations may be made to Hillsborough County Nursing Home Patients Fund, 400 Mast Road, Goffstown 03045.
