Verna Janies Johnson, 76, of Greenville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004.Mrs. Johnson was born in Church Point, La. She was a daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Amadie Janies, of Eunice, La. A retired schoolteacher, she was a graduate of Louisiana College and Bridgeport University.She was a member of Taylors First Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class Coed 27.Survivors include her husband, James W. Johson, of Greenville; three children, Brenda Trigg of Miami, Karl Johnson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Andrea Angerosa of Meriden, Conn.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Also a brother, Dr. Lee Janies of Gonzales, La.; and a sister, Eldine McClurg of Irvine, Calif. She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Curlie Janies of Eunice, La.; and a sister, Lovinie Young of Eunice.Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Taylors First Baptist Church in the sanctuary. Dr. Frank S. Page will officiate. Entombment will follow at 3 p.m. in the mausoleum at Oconee Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Gathering Space at the church.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Collins Children's Home, P.O. Box 745, Seneca, SC 29676.The family is at the home.The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive.
