Obituary of Vera-Mae Harris


Vera Mae "Sister" Harris MIDWAY - Vera Mae "Sister" Harris, 60, a retired custodian who had worked for the Leon County School Board, died Friday, March 14, 2003, in Tallahassee. The service will be at 11 a.m. EST Saturday at St. John Primitive Baptist Church in Midway, with burial at the church cemetery. Family will receive friends at 6 p.m. EST Friday at 32066 Blue Star Highway, Midway.Strong & Jones Funeral Home in Tallahassee (224-2139) is handling arrangements. She was a member of St. John. She is survived by her husband, Theodore Harris; two sons, Freddie Harris (and wife Tonya) and Willie Harris of Tampa; three daughters, Alleachi Mae Stewart-Jefferson (and husband Willie) of Tallahassee, Daisy Mae Stewart-Butler (and husband Billy) of Woodville and Juanita Stewart Green (and husband Joseph) of Havana; two brothers, Jimmy Byrd of Midway and George Byrd of Tampa; 19 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
