VELMA MAE SMITH of Coventry, N.Y.Velma Mae Smith of the Town of Coventry, died at the home of her sister, Marion Tracy on Friday morning, June 8, 2001 after a long illness. She was predeceased by her brothers and sister, Frank Neff, Myron Hall, Fred Neff and Ruth Race. She is survived by her children, Frederick and Barbara Smith, Hancock, Larry and Barbara Smith, Afton, Deborah and Michael Tanner, Oxford and Lori Ball, Afton; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marion Tracy, Harpursville and Judy and James Marshall; a brother, Alford and Ann Neff, Portland, Maine; and several nephews and nieces. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dorothy Memorial Home, 121 Main St., Afton, N.Y. The funeral will be held Monday, June 11, 2001 at 1 p.m. at the Dorothy Memorial Home in Afton with the Rev. Ernest Stiffinson of the Hope Congregation Church in Afton, officiation. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Afton, N.Y. Memorial gifts may be made to the Broome County Hospice.
