FT. WORTH, Texas Our beloved mother and grandmother, Velma Handley Parker, passed away on Jan. 25, 2008.She is survived by her two daughters, June A. Bennett (Jimmie D.) and Shelby Jean Gilder (Mack); one sister, Thelma King; two sisters-in-law, Zoni Bray and Jessie Parker; her grandchildren, Desirie Bennett, Chris Bennett, Deidre Wayman, Lori Hunnicutt, and Trina Gilder; several great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, including Kathy Haskins, Jimmy Parker, Max Bray, and Donald King.She was born July 5, 1920, to Tom and Maggie Handley. She married Albert (Bert) Parker on March 2, 1936. She was raised in Flatwoods, Ala., and moved to Ft. Worth, Texas, in 1950. She finished high school and Business College and worked as an accountant for many years.Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Whitson Place Church of Christ in Flatwoods. Burial will follow in Whitson Place Church of Christ Cemetery with Collins-Burke Funeral Home of Jasper directing. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
