DUKE CENTER, Pa. - Timothy J. ""Murph"" Murphy, 56, of Main St., passed away Sunday (June 3, 2012) at the Olean General Hospital following a brief illness.Born Nov. 15, 1955, in Bradford, he was a son of William and Dolores Nick Murphy. On Nov. 5, 1994, in the Transfiguration Church in Olean, he married Elizabeth Rakus, who survives.Tim was a 1972 graduate of Smethport High School and later attended Edinboro State College. He had resided in Duke Center since 1994.He was employed by Clearfield Hardware, where he worked in sporting goods sales. Later he owned and operated Murphy's Law in Rixford for 18 years. He was then employed by NAPA Auto Parts as an outside sales representative until his illness.Tim was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Eldred, where he was a lector. He was also a member of the Little Nippers of Otto Township, a member and past president of the Keating Sportsman's club, a past coach of the Nippers Baseball League and was active in Legion Baseball.Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Zachary and Matthew Murphy, both at home; his mother, Dolores Rosenswie of Smethport; three brothers, Michael (Elizabeth) Murphy of Glenshaw, Pa., Robert (Judi) Murphy of Smethport and William (Heather) Murphy of Cherokee, N.C.; as well as several nieces and nephews and numerous aunts and uncles.Tim was preceded in death by his father and his stepfather, Edward Rosenswie.Friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the Frame Funeral Home in Eldred. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Raphael's Church, with Rev. Thomas E. Brown and Rev. Brian Vossler as co-celebrants. Burial will follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.The Rosary will be recited Wednesday evening at 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to the Tim Murphy Scholarship Fund through the Little Nippers, Stone's Buddies from Women and Children's Hospital in Buffalo or the Kevin House in Buffalo.Online condolences may be made at www.framefuneralhome.com.
