Thomas Edwards Polk II, 73, of Athens, GA died May 8, 2014. A native of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary Louise Polk. He was a graduate of Brown and the Rhode Island School of Design and earned his doctorate at the Pennsylvania State University. Tom was a professor of Art History at the University of Georgia from 1975-2006, where he received the Sandy Beaver Excellence in Teaching Award in 1986 and the Lothar Tresp Outstanding Honors Professor Award from 1987-91. He is survived by his wife, Gail Polk, sons Jonathan and Michael Polk, brother, Timothy Polk and sister, Rosemary Polk. A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 16th at Covenant Presbyterian Church. Donations can be made to the Art History Fund at the University of Georgia.
