<!-- DisplayFullObituaryText -->Thomas Michael Keyes IRMO - Memorial Service for Thomas Michael Keyes, 70, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2015 at Riverland Hills Baptist Church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo is assisting the family. After two years of battling Brain Cancer, Mike is finally free from pain and with Our Lord. Mike's journey began March 20, 1944 in San Diego, CA, where he was born the son of the late Charles A. and Kathleen M. Patz Keyes. Most of his childhood was spent in Utah, living in Magna, Garfield, and Salt Lake City. Mike was a 1962 graduate of Olympus High School in Salt Lake City and a 1966 graduate of Denver University. In 1967, Mike joined the US Army Reserves and had his basic training at Ft. Bliss, TX. Following the Army, Mike worked in Dallas, TX for Sky Chef, handling the meals that were served on flights. His next adventure took him to Tulsa, OK, where he was a DJ and formed a band. He was named Tulsa's most eligible bachelor, met Miss Teenage America, and together they went to Hollywood and were on an episode of 77 Sunset Strip. Mike then went to work for SAGA Food Service (Currently Marriott) from 1961-1991 where he managed the cafeterias in many different colleges including the University of South Carolina. He eventually decided that South Carolina would be his home. Mike loved the south and made it his permanent home. In 1991, he was a broker until 1993 when he began his own business, APPS Paramedical Services. Mike loved to travel, having visited most of the US and many countries. He owned a home on Lake Murray where he entertained during the summer months. This fulfilled his desire since he was young to have a place for his friends to gather, eat, play, and fellowship. Mike never married, but felt he had a son in his friend, Tim Bradshaw. Tim's daughters, Dakota and Callie were his grandchildren. Surviving are his sister, Marsha Lewis; nephews, David (Pam) Lewis; Jimmy (Hayley) Lewis; and grand nephews, Steven and Zachary Lewis. "I would like to thank the many people who helped Michael: Miguel, and Irma Hernandez ; Mike's Hospice Nurse, Amanda; Tim and his daughters and his faithful friend who was always there for him, Tina Trotter. He will be missed by many. Goodbye to my baby brother, 'til we meet again in God's presence." ~ Marsha Memorials may be made to Riverland Hills Baptist Church, Building Fund, 201 Lake Murray Blvd., Irmo, SC 29063.
