Thomas "Tom" Matheson, age 52, of St. Augustine, passed away on Sept. 13, 2014, at Flagler Hospital. Tom was born and grew up in Connecticut and had been a resident of St. Augustine for more than 20 years. As a young man, he worked as a piper fitter in submarine construction and most recently worked as a grounds keeper at the Ponce de Leon Golf Club in St. Augustine. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Christine Matheson. He is survived by his fiance", Laura Hunter of St. Augustine, and his beloved cats, Cooper & Tigger. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at the home of JoAnn Borchers, 2106 Laurel Drive, St. Augustine, FL 32084. Flowers are accepted, or donations can be made to the family. St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
