Obituary of Thomas-James Frederick

FREDERICK, THOMAS JAMES, 75Ocala - Thomas James Frederick, 75, passed away Saturday October 13, 2007 at Shands Hospital after a long, remarkable challenge with vascular stenosis. Retired from IBM Boca Raton, he moved to Ocala in 1989. His career included a 10 year history on the Apollo program at the Kennedy Space Center, Merritt Island, Fla. and on the development of the first personal computers in Boca Raton, Fla. Born in Reading Pa, moving to Miami Fla. in 1947. He was a Navy veteran during the Korean War, with assignments from Greenland to Panama. An avid salt water fisherman who owned and operated his charter boat the "Audi J" out of Ft. Pierce, Pompano Beach and Boca Raton. When not on the water he preferred to be on the golf course and was a professional golf club maker who took great pride in the building and refinishing of clubs. He later spent his final years assisting his son with the Yancy Blueberry Farm in Silver Springs. He was a gentle man, who laughed a lot, had a big heart and knew only kind words. A true University of Miami fan who endured constant ribbing by his University of Florida and Florida State children. He is survived by his loving wife Audrey Lott Frederick, daughter - Erin Frederick; sons - Daniel Frederick, Andrew Frederick, Todd Cross and Trevor Cross; grandchildren - Thomas Frederick, Jessica Hudgins, Katelyn Frederick and Ethan Hudgins; sisters - Virginia Conrad, Kutztown, Pa. and JoAnn Valenti, Eureka, Calif.; brother - Michael Frederick, Alaska; in-laws - Ralph and Peg Lott, Annette Frederick, Dawn Cross, and Bonnie Hough. Preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Anna Frederick and sister, Delores Knapp. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Vascular Surgery Department at the University of Florida in Gainesville. A memorial service with military honors will be held at the Veterans Memorial Park on Fort King Street in Ocala on Saturday October 20, 2007 at 10 a.m. with a gathering of friends and family at his home following the service. Pastor John Petrucelli officiating. Internment at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida on Wednesday October 24, 2007 at 11:00 a.m.
