Thomas J. McCormack, 87, of Brick Township, N.J., and a longtime resident of West Orange, N.J., passed away Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010 at Burnt Tavern Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Brick, N.J. Thomas had been employed as a chemical operator for Hoffmann-LaRoche Corp. in Clifton, N.J., for 30 years before retiring in 1984. Born in County Sligo, Ireland, Mr. McCormack came to the United States in 1949 and had lived in West Orange, N.J., for 47 years before moving to the Greenbriar section of Brick six years ago. He and his wife also maintained a residence in Boca Raton, Fla. Thomas was an active member of the Irish-American Society of the Oranges and the Greenbriar I Club. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Annie Tighe McCormack; brothers, Patrick, Eddie and Hubert, and sister, Kathleen Anderson. Surviving are his devoted wife of 52 years, Elizabeth C. Fitzpatrick McCormack; his two beloved daughters and their spouses, Kathleen McCormack and Jay Emerson of Ridgway, Colo., and Mary and Michael Lennon of Montclair, N.J.; his two cherished grandchildren, Jessica and Joseph Lennon, and niece, Mary Teresa McCormack. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick, N.J., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 9 a.m. at St. Dominic's R.C. Church, Brick. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lakewood, N.J.
