TUSCALOOSA Thomas J. Lee, born July 1, 1925, to Lela and Marion Bravel, went home to be with the Lord on August 16, 2013. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Annie Mae Lee; his parents, Lela and Marion Bravel Lee; and his brothers, D. H. “Red” Lee, Maurice Lee and Victor Lee.He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ann Lee, the former Annie Mae Watson; three children, Gary Lee (Debbie), Rhonda Copple (Rodney) and Byron Lee (Ann), all of Tuscaloosa; six grandchildren, Elaine White, Laurie Koester (Tony), Kristen Turner (Michael), Nikki Fleming (Chris), Ruth Harmon (Coleman), and Elizabeth Porter; five great-grandchildren, Allie Brooke, Andy Koester, Aulton and Emery Fleming, and Oakley Harmon; sister, Joyce Snow, brother, Robert E. “Bo” Lee; sisters-in-law, Mollie McKenzie, Freda Cumming, and Anna Lee; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.An avid Alabama fan of both football and baseball, Thomas grew up in Brookwood, Alabama and attended Brookwood High School. He joined the United States Navy during WW II. His mother accepted his diploma for him (BHS class of 1945) while he served in the Philippines. He met his wife, Ann, in Perry Business School; they were married Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1949. Thomas retired from Hunt Oil Company after 32 years of service. He came out of retirement to work as security guard of Tuscaloosa Steel for 10 years. He was president of the Hunt Oil Retirees, served with VFW, American Legion and member of the Moose Lodge #8804. Thomas has been an active member of Holt United Methodist Church since 1967, where for many years he served as an usher, Sunday school teacher and on various committees.Pallbearers will be Rodney Copple, Tony Koester, Coleman Harmon, Michael Turner, Steve Lee, Joe Boteler, Tate McKenzie, Perry Madison and Jimmy Standifer.Honorary pallbearers are Chris Fleming, Hospice of West Alabama, Erica Cochran, Brenda Kinard, Tina Logan and other wonderful staff members of the Moose Lodge #804, NorthStar Paramedics, Dr. Stephen Browne and staff, Cancer Care Center and staff, Dr. Pamela Hughes and staff at Cancer Treatment Center, Dr. Sunil Chandra and staff, Dr. Thomas Davis and staff, Dr. Luther Richardson and staff, employees of Hunt Oil Co. past and present, members of Holt United Methodist Church, Donald Pierce and Wayne Junkin.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama, Holt United Methodist Church or Bone Camp United Methodist Church Children's Fund.Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2013, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Gary Lee, Belinda Freeman, and Ken Donaldson officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to services at the funeral home.
