Thomas G. AndersonAthensThomas (Tom) G. Anderson, 84, of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. He served the Department of Defense for more than 30 years, first in the US Air Force and then as an intelligence research analyst as both a civilian and contractor. He also taught elementary school and served as a principal for several years in the Texas public school system. He was an avid reader, genealogist, and Braves fan. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Athens.Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Bette Ann Anderson. Tom is survived by his brother, Travis Anderson; sister, Mary Moore; son, Tom Anderson; daughter, Susan Anderson; and grandchildren Dalton and Ashlan Anderson.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army and First United Methodist Church of Athens, AL.
