He was born in Lowell on April 14, 1915, a son of the late Dennis and Alice (Tomlinson) Murphy. He was educated in the local schools.Mr. Murphy served with the Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Veteransof Foreign Wars Post 662, Walker Rogers in Lowell. He worked for General Electric until 1967 and then for the Lowell Housing Authority for 10 years before his retirement. He was a communicant of St. Margaret Church in Lowell. He enjoyed playing golf and was a former member of Mount Pleasant Golf Club. He also enjoyed watching baseball.He is survived by several nieces and nephews including Dennis F. Sullivan, with whom he resided, Eileen Soucy, William Sullivan, Margaret Kijanka, Eleanor Beaudoin, Martha Hartley, Joseph Hartley, Robert LeBrun, Raymond Lebrun and Paul Fuller; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.He was also the brother of the late Francis A. Murphy, Ellen Hartley, Alice Fuller, Florence Sullivan, Margaret LeBrun and John Murphy.
