POULTNEY - Thomas Butler Snyder II, 87, died Feb. 10, 2010, at The Pines in Rutland.He was born in Phoenixville, Pa., on July 7, 1922, the son of the late Dr. Thomas B. and Elizabeth (Hansell) Synder. He grew up in Kimberton, Pa., at the family farm on French Creek. After graduating from Spring City High School in 1941, he ran the family dairy farm during World War II and afterward. From 1960 until 1979, he owned and operated Sankanac Marina in Elkton, Md. In 1979, he moved to Poultney and ran Sankanac Antiques until 2006. Mr. Snyder was active in the Masons and was a past Commodore of Nur Temple Yacht Club, and also a founding member and past president of the Chester County PA Antique Car Exton Club of Chester, Pa., in 1951.He is survived by a sister, Susan DeTurk of Quechee; several nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Snyder.Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home in Poultney.View the guest book at www.rutlandherald.com/ obits.
