GRASS VALLEY, Calif. -- Theresa Marie Lemieux, 82, of Grass Valley, passed away on June 23, 2010, after an extended illness.She was born on Sept. 6, 1927, in Waterville, Maine, the youngest of 12 children born to Grace and "Paul" Lemieux. A gifted young musician, Theresa played Carnegie Hall at the age of 17. She entered the Ursuline Convent and completed her music degree at Boston University. As a young nun, she taught piano and voice, and spent many hours preparing her students for madrigal and choral competitions. Theresa later laicized and continued to teach music in both public and parochial schools. Her profession took her to various locations, but in retirement, she chose to live in Santa Cruz, Calif.Theresa was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings.She is survived by many nieces and nephews scattered throughout the United States and by very dear friends.Services will begin at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 2, at Our Lady Star of the Sea, Santa Cruz. Interment will follow at Soquel Cemetery. A reception at the church will follow the interment.Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary, Grass Valley.
