JONES Thelma U. Jones, 88, of Cashen Drive in Fernandina Beach, widow of the late Miles Cope Jones, passed away Friday, July 26, 2002 at Heartland Health Care Center in Orange Park, Fla. A native of Kingsland, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mamie Horne Peeples, and resided in Nassau County for most of her life. Mrs. Jones was a homemaker, an avid gardener, and of the Baptist faith. Survivors include: her children, James Harold and Helen Jones, Fernandina Beach, Nancy Loretta and Chuck Hankinson, Jacksonville, and Barbara Joann McKinzie, Orange Park; a sister, Aline Cleo Robinson, Bossier City, LA; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lemuel C. and Hartford W. Peeples of Yulee, and a sister, Martha Evelyn Jones of Hilliard. Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Bosque Bello Cemetery with Reverend Buddy Jones, Pastor of the North 14th Street Baptist Church, officiating.
