FORT FAIRFIELD - Taylor Michael "Teddy" Tompkins, 16, beloved son of Tony M. Tompkins and Natalie B. Sherman, passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning, Nov. 21, 2010, in Fort Fairfield. He was born Dec. 3, 1993, in Presque Isle, and at the time of his death was a junior at Fort Fairfield High School. He had planned to pursue a career in law enforcement after his high school graduation. Taylor will be remembered as a caring, loving young man with a tremendous sense of humor who made everyone laugh. He loved animals, his family and friends, possessed an artistic nature, and was an accomplished woodworker. He is survived by his parents of Fort Fairfield; maternal grandparents, Edwin and Ellen Sherman of Fort Fairfield; paternal grandparents, Al Tompkins of Waterville, Darlene Tompkins of Fort Fairfield, and Verlie Lilly and her husband, Marvin, of Portland; uncles, Jerry Sherman and wife, Elizabeth, of Brewer, Terry Tompkins and his wife, Tammy, of Windham, Troy Tompkins and his wife, Lynn, of Fairfield, Kirk Tompkins and his wife, Beth, of Orland, Kevin Tompkins of Presque Isle, and John Larson of Eddington; aunt, Tiffany Philbrick and her husband, Bruce, of Holden; cousins, Jennifer Campbell and her husband, Chris, of Fort Fairfield, Tim Butler of Conway, Alaska, Matthew and Emma Campbell of Fort Fairfield, Tyler and Hunter Tompkins of Fairfield, Toby Tompkins of Windham, Jena Tompkins of Orland, and Chelsea and Allison Sherman of Orono; numerous great-aunts, great-uncles, extended family members and close friends, including Matthew Campbell, Brandon Clark, Shane McGillan, Tyler Harris and Adam Fox, all of Fort Fairfield. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. The funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, at Celebration Center, 170 Houlton Road, Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. Mark Babin officiating. Interment will take place immediately after the funeral service at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield.
