SMITH, SYLVIA B.Ocala - Sylvia Birch Smith, 94, went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, October 20, 2010. She was born on April 18, 1916 in Grimsby, Ontario, Canada to the late Harold & Edith Birch. Sylvia moved to the U.S. in November, 1923, and moved to Ocala from Palatka, FL in August, 1925. She became a U.S. citizen on June 18, 1954. Sylvia married Francis D. J. Smith (Abie) on August 31, 1947 who preceded her in death. Sylvia was a librarian for 29 years at the Ocala public library. She was a member of Grace church and Daughters of the King. She was also preceded in death by her brother Eric Birch and her sister Gay Birch Stegall. Sylvia is survived by several loving nieces & nephews, great nieces & great nephews and great-great nieces & great-great nephews. A celebration of Sylvia's life will be held on Monday, October 25, 2010 at 11:30 am in Christ the King Anglican Church 3801 N. US Highway 441, Ocala, FL, with Father Don Curran officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens 5740 S. Pine Ave. Ocala, FL.
