SMITH, Sylvia Carolyn (nee Appel) Born March 15, 1940 in Burnaby, BC. Passed away September 6, 2011 in Langley at the age of 71. It is with heavy hearts that our family announce the passing of Sylvia, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, after a brief battle with cancer. Survived by her loving family; husband Barry of 50 years, daughter Denise (Mitch) Pohanke, sons Dave and Steve, brother Marvin, and sister Yvonne. Her grandchildren Ryan, Andrew, Sarah, Brent, Jennifer, and Jessica. Her great-granddaughter Grace and great-grandsons Clayton and Daniel. Her niece Heather Hutchison, nephews, extended family, and friends. "When tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand, that an angel came and called my name, and took me by the hand."
