Sydney Andre Louis LaPointe, 84, formerly of West Haven, entered into Rest in Masonic Health Care Center, Wallingford on Thursday (January 27, 2005). Husband of the late Shirley (Sylvia) Garlonsky LaPointe. Born in Bedford, Canada on July 31, 1920, he was son of the late Hilda Gautier LaPointe, Clark, Wheelock and Andre LaPointe. He was a hockey Player on a Canadian farm team while living in Canada, and later, attended McGill University in Quebec. He enlisted in the Canadian army, and, upon discharge, joined the American Army. A licensed exterminator, he worked for Abalene Pest Control until his retirement. He was a member of the Polish-American Club of West Haven. He is survived by a son, Dr. Thomas (Rose) LaPointe of West Haven; two daughters, Denise (Michael) Berthiaume of North Haven and Maureen (Thomas) Ryan of Wallingford; six grandchildren, Marlo LaPointe of West Haven, Thomas (Terese) LaPointe Jr. of New York, Christopher and Susan Berthiaume of North Haven, Sylvia and Daniel Ryan of Wallingford; and his cat "Leo".
