Susan "Maud" Helen KENDALL August 24, 1918 - April 11, 2009 KENDALL Susan “Maud” Helen, age 90, of Hantsport, Hants County, formerly of Port Aux Basque, Newfoundland, passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 11, 2009 with her grandaughter, Darcy Silver by her side, at Rosemarie's Homes, Hantsport. Born on August 24, 1918 in Port Aux Basque, she was a daughter of the late James and Julia (Savory) Carter. Maud was a homemaker most of her life. She moved from Newfoundland to Halifax in 1943 and after having her family of seven children, she worked at Charlton's Grocery Store and later she retired from F.W. Woolworth Department store in the Bayer's Road Shopping Centre. Maud was a lady with great faith throughout her life, she loved bingo, television wrestling and she was a masterful cook. Surviving are her sons, James (Lillian) Ford, Hammonds Plains; Dohn Kendall, Berwick; daughters, Doreen White (Charlie Purdy), Lower Sackville; Sharon (Arthur) Hodder, Halifax; Ruby (Paul) Lacroix, Halifax; sisters, Dolly Lavalliant, Lower Sackville, Margaret Fraser, Port Aux Basque, Newfoundland; Mary Pike, Port Aux Basque, Newfoundland; seventeen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Vern Silver, Ellershouse; daughter-in-law, Helen Kendall, Drumheller, Alberta. Maud was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph Ford; second husband, Mack Kendall; son, Gerald Sinclair Kendall; daughter, Carol Marie "Sis" Silver; brothers, Robert, Eric, Isaac Carter; sister, Pearl. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. "A heart felt thank you to Rosemarie's Homes, your care & love was above and beyond". Memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2009 in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home Chapel, 194 King Street, Windsor. The Rev. Michael Boyd officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Lawn Cemetery, Halifax.
