Stuart was a wonderful, devotedly religious man who always said the happiest day of one's life is the day they die - then they're with God and have eternal peace. He always credited his longevity to something born the same year he was...Oreo Cookies. He adored all his grandkids and always shared with them his secret of dipping the Oreos into milk to make them extra good. He was a member of St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church, founding member of St. Athanasius Church, former member of St. Martin's Latin Choir and a lead singer with the Silver Notes Sr. Singing Group until he reached 100. He coached 4 generations of basketball and is in the St. Xavier High School Hall of Fame.After 38 years, Stuart retired from Colgate Palmolive as a Sales Office Manager, but was always most proud of his work for Curtiss-Wright and War Assets to do his part in helping with World War II. He loved playing the banjo and singing with family and friends gathered round. He attended his 75th consecutive Derby at the age of 90 and recorded his first album at 94 years old.Stuart is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Nora; brothers, Leo and Louis; and sister, Roberta King. He is also preceded in death by his first wife, Laverne. He is preceded in death by his oldest son, John Robert, from his 2nd wife.Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Estelle Monroe Fink, Stuart A. Fink, M.D. (Diane), Carole Russell of Berkeley, CA, Steve Fink, Tony Fink (Susan), and Vanessa McDermott (Mark). He also leaves 11 grandchildren, Greg (Natalie), Angelique, Beth, Alisa, Mike (Carla), Cathy (Dale Barsness), Jaclyn (Josh Mullin), Johnathan, Anthony, Kelly and Kaitlyn; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.The family would like to thank special neighbors Patti Wendt and Betty Sinclair and appreciate the wonderful care and compassion given by Drs. William Dillon and Lisa Scott.Visitation will be held at Highlands Funeral Home at 3331 Taylorsville Road on Friday, January 9, 2015 from 1-8 p.m. Christian Burial will be at St. Louis Bertrand Church, So. 6th Street on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. with interment following at Calvary Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, please donate to Mass of the Air, Right to Life, Fraternal Order of St. Peter or St. Xavier High School academic scholarship fund.
