SMITH Stephen Smith, age 85, husband to Sophie Rhodis Smith, of Ansonia, died Sunday, July 23, 2006. He was born March 20, 1921 in Douglas, Mass., son of the late Joseph and Dori Grozdak Smith. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy Underwater Demolition Teams. He worked as a Tool & Dye Maker for Whitney Blake Co., New Haven. In addition to his loving wife Sophie, he is survived by his brother, Andrew Smith; and sister, Mary Ann Dupre, both of Massachusetts. as well as several nieces. Funeral services with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, 5 p.m. from The Jenkins-King Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia, with Rev. Joel McEachen officiating. Burial will be on Thursday, 10 a.m. in Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m before the service begins. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Ansonia through the funeral home.
