Stephen E. Williams, 62, of Leeds, passed away at his home on Sunday, July 27, 2014, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle against lung cancer.He was born in Augusta on May 30, 1952, to Norman Sr. and Kathleen (Burnell) Williams. He grew up in Winthrop and graduated from the Winthrop school system in 1971. He worked for Carlton Woolen Mills in Winthrop for many years and most recently at Albarrie Environmental Services.Stephen enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing cards, shooting pool and having large gatherings. He was an avid sportsman and he was passionate about hunting and fishing. Stephen lived life to the fullest, and his many family and friends have fond memories of his sense of humor.Stephen is survived by his loving wife, Sheila (Hafford) Williams, of Leeds; his daughters, Sandra Williams and her companion, Mark Pelkey, of Farmingdale, Stephanie Williams and her companion, Cory Ridlon, of Winthrop, and Susan Ward and her husband, Merton, of Winthrop; stepchildren Lisa Gray and her companion, Terry Mae, of Leeds, and Kevin Bachelder and his wife, Laura, of Turner; his former wife, mother of his girls and lifelong friend, Dorothy (Kimball) Green, of Livermore Falls; his grandchildren, Candice, Tyler B., Kayla, Matthew, Alyssa, Tyler W., Kyle, Joshua, Anthony, Cassie, Austin, Jazzlyn, Lyndsey and Ava; his great-grandchildren, Braedyn, Aubrey and Lilly; his siblings Gerri Robinson and her husband, Lee, of Winthrop, Donna Droullard and her husband, Bruce, of Readfield, and James Williams and wife, Melissa, of Winthrop; many nieces and nephews and friends; and his best friend, his dog, Hammer.Stephen is predeceased by his siblings Norman Williams Jr., Douglas Williams, Barbara Williams and James Williams.A celebration of his life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Faith Alliance Church, 18 Pleasant St., Winthrop, with a gathering to follow.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stephen's honor to the American Cancer Association, P.O.
