Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2013, at Harmony Baptist Church for Mrs. Stella Green, 101 years, of Rainbow City. The Rev. Gerald Childers will officiate. Cremation services provided by Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services in Gadsden.Mrs. Green went to be with her Lord on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Gadsden Health and Rehab Center.She was the oldest living member of Harmony Baptist Church. Mrs. Green loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all of her heart. She showed this love in her hospitality and her cooking, which she always shared with her family and friends. She also had an unending passion for animals. Her family fondly remembers times when Mrs. Green would take in animals in need and nurse them back to health. She will be truly missed by all who loved and knew her.Mrs. Green was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Green; and many brothers and sisters.Survivors include her daughters, Thelma (Robert) Woods and Debbie (Johnny) Fry, both of Rainbow City; her grandchildren, Carolyne (Travis) Cross-Woods, Susie (Jared) Wells, David (Genia) Fry, Daryl (Wendy) Fry, Lisa (Junior) Terry and Steven (Christina) Fry; her great-grandchildren, Alex and Chance Cross Woods, Jesse, Kaylee, Baylon, Hayden, Cayden and Summer Fry, Dylan Swindall and Abby Terry; her sister, Catherine O'Neal of Frostburg, Md.; her brothers, Donnie and Jackie Booth of Frostburg, Maryland; and numerous nieces and nephews.Thank you to the staff at GHRC and the PCT's, and a very special thank you to Ernestine (Little Woman) for her unconditional care of our loved one, and also Stacy Ponder of Lawley Hospice Care.Memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2013, at Harmony Baptist Church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.The family requests no flowers and ask that memorial contributions be made to your local Humane Society or animal shelter in honor of Mrs. Green's love for God's creatures.Online condolences may be made to the family at www.collier-butler.com.
