WINDHAM -- Sister Mary Goodwin (formerly Sister M. John Bosco), 75, a Sister of Mercy for 55 years, died April 11, 2010, after a long illness. She was born in East Boston, Mass., to James and Mary Beatrice (Walsh) Goodwin. She received a B.A. degree in education from Mount Saint Mary College and M.A. degrees in special education and pastoral ministry from St. Joseph College, West Hartford, Conn. She taught at elementary schools in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, including St. Joseph School and Mount Saint Mary Day School in Manchester; St. Mary Academy, Dover; St. Mary School, Claremont; and Sacred Heart School, Nashua, and St. Ann School, Gloucester, Mass. After completing her studies in pastoral ministry, Sister Mary served as pastoral minister at St. Francis Home in Laconia. For 12 years she was director of religious education at St. Patrick Parish in Pelham. Family members include a brother, James R. Goodwin of Lynn, Mass.; a sister, Judith Alakoski of Melbourne, Fla.; a cousin; and several nieces and nephews. SERVICES: Friends may call at the Warde Health Center, 21 Searles Road, Windham, Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel at the Warde Health Center. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford. Memorial donations may be made to Sisters of Mercy, 21 Searles Road, PO Box 420, Windham 03087-0420.
