ST. CATHARINE -- Sister Mary Elise Groves, OP, 90, a native of Louisville, died Monday, July 28, 2003, at Sansbury Care Center on the grounds of St. Catharine Motherhouse near Springfield, KY. A Dominican of St. Catharine of Kentucky for 71 years, Sister Mary Elise taught at Holy Rosary Academy in Louisville and was a teacher and principal at Holy Innocents. In 1973, Sr. Mary Elise founded Holy Angels Academy in Louisville, where she served as teacher, principal and president of the board. She is survived by a sister, Earleen Groves of Louisville and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2003, with the funeral at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2003, both at Sansbury Care Center Chapel. Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home in Springfield is handling the arrangements.
