Sister-Margaret Miller, born in 1943, daughter of Clara-Moorehead and Fred, died on August 25, 2007 at 64 years old.
August 25, 2007 Sister Margaret Miller, formerly Sister Jerome, died in Saint Mary's Hospital in Troy on August 25, 2007. Born in Utica, New York, Sister Margaret was the daughter of Clara Moorehead Miller and Fred Miller. Sister Margaret had been a Sister of Saint Joseph of Carondelet for the last 64 years. Having earned both a bachelor's and a master's degree from The College of Saint Rose in Albany, Sister Margaret taught in the elementary schools in both the Albany and Syracuse dioceses. During her years in Saint Anthony's School in Troy, Sister Margaret was also the school administrator and principal. In 1979 Sister Margaret began ministry to the elderly in Saint Lucy's Parish in Syracuse, and the families to whom Sister ministered welcomed her warmly. They all benefited from Sister Margaret's compassionate and accepting heart. She was a blessing and a gift and was much beloved by the families among whom she tirelessly labored. Due to a change in her health, it became necessary that Sister Margaret leave her revered friends in Saint Lucy's Parish and move to Saint Joseph's Provincial House in Latham in 2005. This was a loss to both Sister and persons to whom she shared herself most generously. Sister Margaret was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Robert, Fred, Charles and John; and her sister, Marian Miller. She is survived by several loving nieces and nephews; and her beloved Sisters in community. Sister Margaret's funeral liturgy will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2007, from the chapel of St. Joseph's Provincial House, Latham. Calling hours will be held at the Provincial House on Tuesday, August 28, from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Interment will be in Our Lady Queen of Virgins Cemetery on the Provincial House grounds. Contributions in Sister Margaret's memory may be made to the Development Office of the Sisters of St. Joseph, 385 Watervliet-Shaker Rd., Latham, NY 12110. Arrangements are under the direction of Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home in Latham. To send condolences or to light a candle, please visit www. dufresneandcavanaugh.com
