<!-- FH = Garner-Harper Funeral Home (662) 226-4711 -->Silvia Beam Smith, age 89, left peacefully from her home to be with Jesus on October 16, 2010 with her family by her side.She was born January 20, 1921 in Sunflower County, MS to the late John Wilson Beam and Lillie Pogue Beam.In addition to her husband, John Ernest Smith (in 1985), and her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Essie B. Jenkins of Carrollton, MS, Bessie Beam of Kilmichael, MS, Earlene B. Jeffords of Greenwood, MS and her brothers, Tom Beam of Greenwood, MS, J.D. Beam of Greenville, MS, Jim Beam of Kilmichael, MS, Bill Beam of Kilmichael, MS, Frank Beam of Nesbitt, MS and W.C. Beam of Southhaven, MS.She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Smith Martin (Tucker) of Jackson, TN; her grandson, John Curry Martin (Tricia) of Jackson, TN and her sisters, Marlene B. Whatley of Greenwood, MS and Josephine B. McCandless of Fayetteville, AR. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and friends to mourn her passing.Silvia was employed at Grenada Industries for over 30 years, as was her husband. They retired and moved to Starkville, MS in 1976 to be with family. After the passing of her husband, she continued to live with her daughter, son-in-law and grandson, and moved with them to Jackson, TN in 1987. Silvia and John Ernest were charter members of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Grenada, MS. She was an avid seamstress and gardener, making hundreds of quilts and other crafts in her life on earth. Silvia believed in her Savior above all else, and was intensely devoted to her family.Pallbearers will be John Martin, Chris Elmore, Patrick Elmore, Ryan Elmore, Eddie Beam and Sonny Beam, along with Honorary Pallbearers Bill McCandless, Billy McGarrity, Walter Beam and Allen Taylor.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 19th at 12 p.m., with funeral services following at 1 p.m., at Garner-Harper Funeral Home in Grenada, MS.
