Morris, Shirley ALBANY Shirley "Susie" LaVaughn Morris, age 57, departed this Earth at St. Peter's Hospital on March 9, 2010. Born in Albany, N.Y., where she remained a lifetime resident, Susie was the daughter to the late Edward and Alma Morris as well as stepdaughter to the late Emma Morris. Grad-uating from Albany High School in 1970, Susie pursued college courses in computer programming. Shortly after, she began employment with New York State for 30-plus years where she remained gainfully employed at the time of her passing. Her love for children as well as her smile and laugh will never be forgotten. Left to cherish her memory are four brothers, Edward "Sanko," Lawood "Lennie," James "Russell," Anthony "Tony" and Daryl Morris; also two step-brothers, Virgil and Leroy "Bear" Butler; two uncles, Joseph Thorton and Donald Watkins; and two aunts, Myrtese Thorton and Barbara Ann Watkins. Very near and dear to her heart were her precious nieces, Chinessa "Peaches" and Diamonique "Dangerous" Morris; her beloved "son and daughter," Daquane and Alasha Messier; as well as her cherished friend of 18 years, Sylvia Sheldon. A host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, close family friends and co-workers are also remembering her. Viewing will be held at Magin & Keegan Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a service. Repast to immediately follow at the VFW Wigand Post 8444, 370 Central Avenue, Albany. The family wishes to have a private interment service at a later date.
