MALONE, Shirley Elisabeth August 23rd, 1939 - December 26th, 2006 With great sadness we announce the passing of a caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed by all whom she touched. Shirley Elisabeth Malone, 67, of Cromwell, CT, wife of the late, Jim Malone, died on Tuesday, December 26th. Born in Edmonton, with many years in Ardrossan and Sherwood Park, Shirley spent her last few years in Cromwell,CT, USA after the passing of her husband, Jim in 2004. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Natalie Schmitke. She leaves behind her son, John James Malone (Nancy) of Jasper, one daughter, Betty Ann Allen (Blair) of Cromwell, CT and their children, Taylor and Cole Allen and three sisters, Jean Romanuk (Bill) of Edmonton, Lucille Birchall of Tsawwassen, BC and Elsa Thuveson of Chilliwack, BC. Shirley graduated with a nursing degree. After nursing she found another love in sewing, tailoring, quilting, fiber dyeing and rug hooking. She taught for many years at Central Sewing and for the City of Edmonton. Shirley was a member of numerous Guilds and won best in show for some of her work. She also volunteered frequently at the Good Samaritan Hospital. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to do so can make donations in Shirley's name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International. This foundation can be found at www.jdrf.org . There will be no funeral services or calling hours. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at the website of www.doolittlefuneralservice.com . Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell, CT is in charge of arrangements.
