JOHNSON, ShirleyOctober 12, 1928 – Ruthilda, SaskatchewanOctober 26, 2016 – Okotoks, AlbertaShirley Johnson of Calgary, AB (formerly of Stettler, AB) passed away peacefully after a valiant and brave battle with cancer on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at the age of 88 years, surrounded by her loving family at the Foothills Country Hospice, where the staff took amazing care of her until the end. She will be terribly missed. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Lorie (Al) Taylor of Calgary, Debbie (Ruy) Paes-Braga of Vancouver and Kathy (Ian) Smith of Calgary; her son, Greg (Barb) Johnson of Vancouver Island; her partner and dear friend, Tom Gardiner of Calgary; ten grandchildren and fifteen great- grandchildren… a legacy she was so very proud of. She also leaves to mourn numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by her husband Brian in 1987 as well as her mother Edith in 1997 and father Stan in 1980. To celebrate Shirley''s life, friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service followed by a reception and dance at the Royal Canadian Legion, 1910 Kensington Rd NW, Calgary, AB, on November 5, 2016 at 2:00. Special thanks to Dr. Simon Arthur and staff, pharmaceutical staff at Shopper''s Drug Mart at Market Mall. Martin Gatan of Palliative Home Care, for being a wonderful support, the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Dr. Lim and the radiology team that looked after mom during her illness. Thanks to all her friends for the support you showed mom. A special thanks to Etta Campbell. The family would like to acknowledge the Foothills Country Hospice.
