Shirley Jean Allen, age 59, of 1131 Curry Lake Road, died Tuesday, October 9, 2007, at her home. A daughter of the late Helen Cunningham and Ralph Jackson, she was a member of the Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church, a retired employee of the Greenville School District and a member of the Newberry Women's Aid Society #84. She is survived by her husband, Lee Earl Allen of the home; one daughter, Cathy Cunningham of the home; one sister, Daisy Ruth Sullivan of Gray Court; two stepsisters, Mamie Bell Turner of Columbia, and Elizzie Smith of Laurens; three stepbrothers, James Arthur Turner of Simpsonville, Arthur Lee Turner of Gray Court, and Marvin Turner of Laurens; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant View Baptist Church with Rev. Waddy Talley officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.
